Thank you for your inquiry. We have two types of water Pitchers. This pitcher is the RAD Water Pitcher which is able to eliminate 99.99% of contaminants including radiologicals. The other water pitcher is the pH20 Water Pitcher which turns the water more alkaline. Both of these pitchers have their own specific filter. You cannot use the pH20 water filter with the RAD pitcher, and vice versa. I hope this answered your question. Have a blessed day.
I have a RAD pitcher which I love, but concerned about bacteria and viruses that the pitcher doesn’t filter out. Could I kill bacteria and viruses by using liquid silver sol in the water after running it through the pitcher?
Thanks for your excellent question and feedback on the RAD Pitchers. My wife and I also have 2 King pH pitchers which we love.
Although I have not heard of using Silver Sol in this way – this may in fact be a possibility. Seychelle does sell the “Advanced Filter” series of products ( such as the Extreme Water Bottles, Straws and Pumps ) in order to filter out any contaminants that might be found in sources besides municipal water supplies. Although the RAD filter should be sufficient for most municipal water supplies, if you feel your water source is suspect – this may be a solution. Blessings-
SEYCHELLE RADIOLOGICAL FILTER
The Radiological filter removes the four basic zones of contamination: aesthetic (chlorine, taste and odor), chemicals (from industry and agriculture), dissolved solids (heavy metals such as lead, mercury, chromium 6) and up to 99.99% of radiological contaminants such as gross beta, radon 222, alpha radium 226, plutonium, uranium, cesium 134 and 137. Removes up to 90% of fluoride. To be used with chlorinated or disinfected water supply only. Not intended for use with private wells, rivers, streams or salt water.
SEYCHELLE ADVANCED FILTER
The Advanced filter is made of the same media as the Standard filter with the addition of EPA approved iodinated resin (EPA Reg #: 35917-2), which has been proven effective in the removal of bacteria and viruses to six logs (99.9999%). Removes up to 90% of fluoride. It can be used in extreme conditions, turbid and stagnant water. It is ideal for emergencies, natural disasters, traveling around the world and used with water of unknown quality. (Not to be used with salt water.)
I’m trying to decide what to order. I like the idea of the PH20 water pitcher, but also like the RAD pitcher. Apparently the PH20 water filter does not remove the contaminants that the RAD pitcher does? Do some people use the RAD pitcher and then the pH20 pitcher?
I might prefer this smaller sized pitcher, compared to the King pH2O pitcher (which uses 2-filters), but this smaller pitcher doesn’t raise pH2O. As you don’t sell smaller sized pH2O pitchers currently (January 2018), if I bought King pH2O replacement filters, could one of those pH2O filters be used in this RAD pitcher?
So the pitchers are not for home use if you have a well anymore? Any suggestions on what pitchers to use in your home if you have a well & not city water.. I thought that was kind of the whole idea with the Seychelle products which is why I purchased several of them several years ago. But I wanted one for my daughter (kids) and they are also on a well. Don’t want to hand them out per the statement about not using on private wells. Should I even be using them on a homestead with a private well?
The RAD pitcher is not recommended for well water as it does not remove bacteria and viruses. Well water can often times contain bacteria such as E-coli.
It is recommended that you use a filtration (ie. Seychelle’s Extreme or Supreme Filtration) or water purification treatment (ie. chlorine, boiling, etc.) that removes bacteria and viruses before putting your water through the RAD Pitcher.
Is there a filter you suggest to filter river water to get the germs out first, then use the rad pitchers? It says to only use chlorinated water. I prefer your filters instead ….if that would work.
Clarification: I am assuming that the EXTREME filter filters out contaminates AND RAD also, but RAD filter alone does not filter out contaminates. Correct?
The RAD Filter removes up to 99.99% of the following:
It does not remove bacteria and viruses. This is the main difference between the Extreme Filter and the RAD Filter.
I bought a seychelle pitcher 5 years ago but never opened the box. I put it in my closet and forgot about it. I got it out today and wanted to know if it is still ok to use.
Does this RAD Pitcher filter out the same contaminates as the Extreme filter Bottles? Or less?
